HPE SmartCarrier trays
HPE 8TB Midline hard drives are bundled with a SmartCarrier tray which uses LED icons to display the current status of the hard drive. HPE SmartCarrier trays feature a green spinning activity ring that reflects the data-writing process to notify when the server is writing data to the drive. HPE SmartCarrier trays feature a "do not remove" button that lights up to warn users when the removal of the hard drive would cause data loss.
512e Advance Format
HPE Midline hard drives feature Advanced Format technology (512e) which uses 4K byte sector boundaries for physical data storage on the hard drive, but will continue to communicate logically to the system in 512 byte sectors. HPE 512e advanced formatting allows HPE hard drives to maintain compatibility with current operating systems and legacy operating systems.
