The 748387-B21 is bundled with a HPE SmartDrive Carrier tray that displays the current status of the drive using LED icons. HPE SmartCarrier trays have several LED icons such as the activity ring, which lights up when the server is currently writing data to the drive. HPE SmartCarrier trays also have a “do not remove” icon that prevents you from pulling the drive in order to prevent data loss. HPE SAS 12G 15K server hard drives perform much better vs SAS 6G 10K hard drives, allowing you to streamline your server workloads.
HPE SmartCarrier trays are hot-pluggable which allows you to plug the drive into the server without having to power down. This feature allows your servers to stay up and running, with little to no interruption to the data writing process. HPE SmartCarrier trays are backwards compatible with Gen9 and Gen8 HPE ProLiant servers with the correct drive firmware installed.
