HPE 512e Advance Format

HPE SAS hard drives with 512e advance format use 4K byte sector boundaries for physical data storage on the hard drive, but will continue to communicate to the system in 512 byte sectors. This allows you to install and use this drive with servers with legacy operating systems that utilize 512 byte sectors instead of 4k byte sector boundaries.

HPE SmartCarrier tray

The HPE 861754-B21 is bundled with an HPE SmartCarrier tray that displays the current status of the hard drive using LED icons. HPE SmartCarrier trays feature many LED icons such as the green spinning activity ring that lights up when the server is currently writing data to the drive. HPE SmartCarrier trays also feature a “do not remove” button that prevents users from pulling the drive when it is currently writing data.

HPE 6 Terabyte, 12G data transfer rate, 512e Advanced Format, 7.2k, SAS hard drive bundled with a SmartCarrier tray. The 861754-B21 is a 512e Advanced Formatted drive and is for select G10 HPE ProLiant Servers and is backwards compatible with G8 and G9 HPE ProLiant Servers.
